PANEL DISCUSSIONS-

FRIDAY 8/11/2023

After Capitalism — Is Degrowth the Future?
As the need for radical changes in the social and economic order becomes clearer, the degrowth movement is gaining supporters and critics alike. This panel discussion will explore the basic concepts of degrowth, the solutions it proposes, and the resistance it receives. This is an introductory conversation, no prior knowledge of degrowth is necessary.

Facilitated by Doug Bierend with panelists Megan Egler, Sam Bliss, Julia Ha + Adder Chu from DEGROWNYC

About DegrowNYC: we are organizers of color with connections to the Global South based in occupied Lenapehoking territory (so-called NYC) who view degrowth as a revolutionary process & a form of ecological reparations. As degrowthers, we are working toward a societal transformation that respects ecological balance and planetary limits and prioritizes care, community, and the welfare of all of Earth’s inhabitants. We recognize that neither capitalism nor productivist socialism or “ecomodernism” can achieve these ends..

Through The Looking Glass: A Discussion About Entheogens And Protecting The Sacred

Join an entheogen discussion happening at the New Moon Mycology Summit with organizers, activists and ceremony holders in attendance. With both the decriminalization and the commodifcation of psilocybe mushrooms, the discussion about colonization and ancestral healing is more important than ever and crucial to building good relations with Sacred mushrooms. So much to unpack as we experience a surge in interest and entrepreneurship in the field of therapy and psychedelics so we hope to create a container for community to have a dialog and gain better understandings through compassionate listening and community building.

Facilitated by Mario Ceballos with panelists William Padilla Brown, Mariam Kouyate, John Schmurr & Yarelix Estrada
