MycoYoho: Wisdom from the Fungal KINdom - Exhibition and Conversation with the Artist

Artist and Mycologist Willoughby Arévalo exhibits and shares the story of his epic painting MycoYoho. Created over nine months and set in the majestic Canadian Rockies, shares teachings from fungal relationships, and questions our assumptions about the nature of life. The content represents a gathering of fungal archetypes and teachings gleaned from the community of mycologists, artists, traditional knowledge keepers, scholars and practitioners in Willoughby's extended community, including a number of ideas shared at previous New Moon Mycology Summits.
Mixing media – from wild ochre from the place of the red earth spirit, to house paint, ballpoint, to shaggy mane ink, and mixing styles – from realist rendering to surrealistic scale distortions and scrawled script notes, this wraparound mural offers a plurality of points of entry into the mycelial webs within the soil strata.
