*Our tentative deadline to sign up for volunteering is July 21st*

Why Volunteer?

Through volunteering at the New Moon Mycology Summit, you will get to be part of a dynamic team of organizers and volunteers that are working together to make this event happen, and watch your contributions help build a vibrant space and mycelial community. Depending on your team, you will also learn skills such as large-scale composting, building infrastructure, cooking for large groups, and more. No matter your team, you will get a glimpse at what organizing an event of this scale looks like on the back-end, and meet a wonderful group of people who are making it happen alongside you! In addition, volunteering is an opportunity to attend the summit through work-trade rather than by paying.

Policies

While volunteering is a work-trade, to ensure your commitment, we ask that you pay a refundable deposit of $75. You can pay this deposit within the 2 weeks following your interview. Please email us at newmoonmycology@gmail.com to make alternate arrangements if this does not work for you at this time.

As a part of the team, we expect you to be dedicated, reliable, and hard-working. Planning on volunteering during the Summit? While we want you to attend all of the classes that you wish to, you will be responsible for prioritizing your assigned tasks when they need to be done.

Our volunteers are an integral part of building this event, but before we commit to working with you, we want to get to know you a little better. We also want you to have the opportunity to learn more about us, the event, and what participating as a volunteer will look like for you. For these purposes, you are required to attend a virtual interview scheduled on an individual basis following your application, and a virtual group orientation prior to the summit.

What to Expect After Applying

We will send you an email confirming the submission of your application. We have a follow up 1-on-1 virtual interview. You’ll receive your specific volunteer details latest by early June! If you have questions please write to newmoonmycology@gmail.com.

Once again, thank you for your interest in volunteering. We can’t emphasize enough how grateful we are for your support, and we truly could not do this event without our amazing volunteers!

Volunteer applications tentatively close on Friday, August 29, 2026
