Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the New Moon Mycology Summit! This grassroots event is built through the hard work and collaboration of many people, and this sort of organizing could not be possible without volunteer support!
First and foremost, you will get to be part of a dynamic team of organizers and volunteers that are working together to make this event happen. It is quite a treat to watch your contributions help build a vibrant space and community. Volunteers will also receive a bundle of New Moon Mycology merch! Lastly, volunteers get to attend the summit with a significant discount from the minimum of the sliding scale for tickets.
Volunteer passes are $30, which will go toward accommodating you throughout the event, plus a $20 deposit which you will have the choice of donating or receiving back once you have completed your hours. As a part of the team, we expect you to be dedicated, reliable, and hard-working. While we want you to attend all of the classes that you wish to, you will be responsible for prioritizing your assigned tasks when they need to be done.
We value accessibility and understand that everybody has a different financial situation. If $30 is a serious obstacle to your attendance, you can apply for a scholarship within the volunteer application. You will still be expected to deposit $20, but will be able to receive this money back once you have completed your hours. Scholarships are limited.
Shifts & Responsibilities
There are three different volunteer shifts: pre-summit, during summit, and post-summit. In order to keep a balanced volunteer force, each shift will be capped and positions will be first come, first served. We will update the website as shifts fill up.
Arrive by Tuesday morning, August 27th, to attend a 10:00am orientation meeting
Tasks such as setting up tents, decorations, signage, electrical spaces etc.
3 courses of food will be available on the 27th and 28th and throughout the duration of the summit
Arrive by Thursday mid-day, August 29th, to attend a 12:00pm orientation meeting
Work for 10-15 hours between August 29th and September 1st
Various positions available: Sanitation, Tech & Presenter Support, Aesthetics, Kids Station, Transportation, Registration & Parking
Stay after the summit latest until the afternoon of September 3rd
The orientation meeting will be on Monday, September 2nd, time tbd
Tasks such as breaking down tents & water stations, packing up materials, trash pick-up & site restoration etc.
3 courses of food will be available on September 2nd, and 2 courses (breakfast and lunch) on September 3rd
